Enquire about Air Passes BEFORE purchasing your ticket/s to South America. The passes have very strict conditions. I bought a one-way ticket from LAX to Santiago Chile on internet and this excluded me from purchasing an airpass. As a result fares around South America were more expensive than originally budgetted!
